Participants are welcome to stop by at any time, as no formal presentations will be made. At the conclusion of the open house series, a preliminary Facility Master Plan will be developed that includes information provided by participants about which educational programs, community programs and facilities should be included in each neighborhood cluster. Before the Facility Master Plans are finalized, community members will have an opportunity to help clarify input and review the plans.

The event is free and open to the public. Childcare, refreshments, student entertainment and student educational activities will be provided. Spanish interpretation will be available.

See attached flyer with layout of information centers.

News Release San Diego Unified School District: All schools, child development centers will be open on Monday, May 19

San Diego Unified News Release May 18, 2014

All schools, child development centers will be open on Monday, May 19

All schools and child development centers in the San Diego Unified School District will be open for regular hours on
Monday, May 19, including those in the Mira Mesa and Scripps Ranch neighborhoods. Those schools were closed Friday, May 16, due to conditions from nearby brush fires.

Parents and district staff members are receiving automated telephone messages with information on the openings. The factors that resulted in school closures: potential threat of new fires, air quality, staff availability, staff living in evacuated areas, potential power outages and keeping roadways clear have been resolved.

"We are thankful for the understanding and patience of parents, students and employees during last week's challenges," said Supt. Cindy Marten. "Our hearts go out to those who have lost their homes and to those who were evacuated. We are grateful to the firefighters, law enforcement officers, first responders and our own School Police officers for their dedication to public safety."
