ELEMENTARY STUDENTS LEARN WHAT TO DO IN A DISASTER
OES for Kids Program Highlights Safety and Family Readiness
WHAT: Fourth-graders at Kimbrough Elementary will learn what to do to stay
safe during disasters and how emergencies could impact their families and
community.
The students will discuss how to make a family survival kit and how to take
care of their pet during an emergency as part of a disaster preparedness
program for children organized by the San Diego County Office of Emergency
Services. The students will also be given disaster informational guides to
share with their families.
WHEN: Tuesday, January 25, 2010 from 8:30 a.m. to noon
WHERE: Kimbrough Elementary, 321 Hoitte St. in San Diego

San Diego Fire-Rescue Department
VISUALS: Students practicing ³Stop, Drop and Roll,² an American Red Cross
puppet show on disaster preparedness, a pet safety demonstration with
stuffed animals, and disaster preparedness games and activities.
