WHAT: San Diego Unified School District is proposing a multi-phase modernization project for Point Loma High School that includes major upgrades to the school's stadium, as well as the rest of the campus. Students are holding a press conference to discuss why these upgrades are so important to them, i.e., safety issues, equal access issues (Title IX); missed academic hours due to daytime practices and competitions, daytime events preclude working parents from participating, and adverse effects on non-athletic programs (i.e. Band, ROTC, Cheer, etc.). The students will also explain why, after many years of planning, they are excited that the Final Environmental Impact Report for the project is going to the Board of Education for certification on May 24.

WHEN: Thursday, May 19 - 1:30 p.m.

WHERE: Point Loma High School Stadium, 2335 Chatsworth Blvd., San Diego 92106 (619-223-3121) The press conference will be held on the in the track and field area of the stadium. (Site map available.)
