San Diego Unified to detail $10 million plan for 3 new magnet schools; Window for accepting choice applications for magnets, other schools opens Oct. 3
WHAT: San Diego Unified will announce its plan to create three new magnet schools focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) programs. The $10 million plan is being funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The district will also announce the
start of the choice enrollment option period for all San Diego Unified students.

DETAILS: The district is announcing its newest magnet schools as it prepares to open the choice application period for existing magnet schools and other district schools. The school choice window for San Diego Unified schools opens Oct. 3 and runs through Nov. 14. Additional details will be provided at the press conference.
School Choice gives district families the option to enroll their students in magnet programs or schools outside of their neighborhood, and other San Diego County families the chance to attend a San Diego Unified school. The School Choice application is available online at www.sandiegounified.org/school-choice-application.
