San Diego Unified and Google Expand on Partnership
Tech giant to train hundreds of teachers this week in classroom technology and online collaboration
WHAT: The Google Teacher Summit ("G-Suite Summit") is a free professional development experience designed to teach education leaders how to get the most from innovative technologies. This is an official Google event hosted in conjunction with The San Diego Unified School District and The EdTech Team.
In October San Diego Unified along with Google Chief Education Evangelist Jaime Casap announced their collaboration and commitment to expanding technology in the classroom. The "G-Suite" Summit is the first implementation of this new and exciting partnership.
All summit presenters are Google for Education Certified Innovators, Trainers and Teachers who are flying in from across the country to take part in this amazing day of learning. Each summit-session is an intensive event where participants are provided hands-on experience with Google's products and technologies. The district teachers will learn about innovative instructional strategies, and receive resources to bring back and share with colleagues.
The Google for Education's Professional Development Partner Program specifically provides training to teachers on integrating digital tools, like Google's Geo Tools, that allow students to explore rich geographical content and take virtual field trips to anywhere on Earth.
WHEN: Saturday, March 11, 2017 7:30 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.
WHERE: Standley Middle School, 6298 Radcliffe Drive, 92122
DETAILS: Teachers will focus on integrating and using G-Suite (formerly Google Apps for Education) and other Google tools to promote student learning. Participants will have the opportunity to attend three 2-hour sessions on a variety of topics that will allow them to engage deeply with the content. SDUSD teachers in attendance will emerge with the knowledge and resources needed to implement the information into their classroom lessons.
