San Diego Gulls Spreading Holiday Joy with Book Giveaway at Porter Elementary School

SAN DIEGO -- As part of the Gulls Season of Giving and their Reading is the Goal program, the San Diego Gulls will be brightening the holidays for hundreds of Porter Elementary School students by handing out newly purchased books for free. Many of the books are written in Spanish for one of the most ethnically diverse student populations within San Diego Unified.
WHAT: Book distribution to students at Porter Elementary
WHERE: Porter Elementary (north campus): 445 S. 47th Street, San Diego, CA., 92113
WHEN: Wednesday, December 15, 2021
TIME: 10 a.m.
WHO: Representatives from the San Diego Gulls, including Mascot Gulliver and the Gulls Girls, will help hand out books to students at Porter Elementary.
BACKGROUND: With the purchase of more than 1,300 books, the San Diego Gulls, a member of the American Hockey League, will be handing out two books and a gift to every student at Porter Elementary ahead of the upcoming winter break. To acknowledge Porter’s diverse student population, many of the books being provided are in Spanish and cover a wide variety of genres, from culturally responsive stories to graphic novels and chapter books.
