CLASS OF 2012 COMMENCEMENT SCHEDULE: Most schools will be graduating on
Wednesday, June 12. The schedule is online at

LAST MEDIA CALENDAR OF SCHOOL YEAR: This is the last calendar of the
2011-12 school year. See you in the fall!

June

11-- Jazz in the Schools, 5:30 to 10 p.m., Anthology, 1337 India Street
(92101). Benefit concert to raise money for jazz programs in San Diego
Unified. Jazz groups from Pershing, Challenger, Marshall and CPMA middle
schools, and Mission Bay and University City high schools will perform.
All proceeds will go to the VAPA program, specifically for jazz. $10 for
General Admission/$23 for Booth. Contact: Jeremy Kern at
Jeremy@JazzInTheSchools.org. Open to the public.

11 -- Safe Journey, Life Saving Lessons for Today¹s Teen Drivers, 6-7:30
p.m., Ballard Parent Center, 2375 Congress Street (92111). San Diego
School Police Department is offering a free safe driving program
specifically for teen drivers and soon-to-be drivers from 15-19 years of
age and their parents. The presentation is based on research from such
agencies as the National Safety Council, National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration as well as several others. Contact: Interim School Police

12 -- Last day for students at traditional calendar schools. For

*18-19 -- Year-round schools closed. District offices open.

* 27 -- Groundbreaking for COMM22 Project, 10 a.m., 22nd and Commercial
Streets, San Diego. San Diego Unified School District is participating in
this urban residential development. Contact: Bridge Housing and MAAAC
Project, 619-819-0219. Open to the public.

July

*20 -- Last day for students at year-round schools.

August

18-- Military Families Back-2-School and Enrollment Fair, 9 a.m. to 3
p.m., Farb Middle School, 4880 La Cuenta Dr. (92124). Military families
new to San Diego can enroll their child(ren) in school (San Diego Unified
only) at this event and visit community and military-related resource
booths. Complimentary lunch provided. Contact: Laura Dewan at 619-725-8163
