MEDIA ADVISORY from the San Diego Unified School District, March 23, 2010

ONE OF SD'S TOP CHEFS HELPS STUDENTS HARVEST, FEAST ON SCHOOL GARDEN

WHAT: Harvest and feast at Central Elementary School

WHEN: 11 a.m. Thursday, March 25, 2010

WHERE: Central Elementary School, 4063 Polk Ave. (92105)

DETAILS: For several years, Central Elementary School students have been
tending a vegetable garden on the City Heights campus. For many students,
this is the first experience with growing fresh vegetables. It helps to
teach the students in grades kindergarten through five the importance of
sustainability and healthy living choices. Jeff Rossman, chef and owner of
Terra Restaurant, 3900 Vermont St. (in the Uptown complex), will be working
with the students to pick and prepare their bounty.

PHOTOS: Students will be picking and preparing, as well as eating their
homegrown food at the school's salad bar. Interviews and photographs of
students are welcomed, as well as with Chef Rossman and principal Cindy
Marten.
