PARTICIPATE IN THE 5TH ANNUAL BIZCON CONFERENCE
Dolphin Tank Pitch Competition Features Six High Schools
WHAT: San Diego Unified high school students will take center stage at the 5th Annual Business Conference, also known as BizCon, where they will pitch original business ideas in the “Dolphin Tank” competition, sharpen real-world career skills, and connect with industry professionals. This year’s event features six San Diego Unified high schools:
Clairemont High School
Mission Bay High School
Patrick Henry High School
James Madison High School
Lincoln High School
San Diego High School
More than 500 students will participate in hands-on workshops focused on financial literacy, college readiness, résumé writing, and scholarship essay design. Throughout the day, students will connect with mentors, take part in interactive breakout sessions, and explore Vendor Avenue, where community and business partners—including State of California Business Assistance, San Diego Workforce Partnership, U.S. Bank, and the County Registrar of Voters—will introduce students to real-world resources and opportunities for their futures.
WHY: BizCon equips students with the tools, knowledge, and professional networks to launch businesses and build generational wealth. The event supports San Diego Unified’s Student Achievement Goal #4: Increase College and Career Readiness by connecting students with real-world learning and career opportunities.
Participating students will gain exposure to:
- The fundamentals of entrepreneurship
- Networking with business and civic leaders
- The art of designing award-winning essays for scholarships, fellowships, and grants
- Real-world experiences through pitching business ideas and receiving feedback from a panel of local celebrity judges
