Good evening,
Linked here is the video of the press conference held by San Diego Unified School District leaders at 4:30 p.m. on October 6 about how the impact President Trump’s remarks about San Diego have on students. The leaders who spoke were:
- Dr. Fabi Bagula, Superintendent, San Diego Unified School District
- Richard Barrera, President, Board of Education, San Diego Unified School District
- Monique Barrett, President, San Diego Education Association
- Dr. Gloria Ciriza, Superintendent, San Diego County Office of Education
- Dr. Fabi Bagula, Superintendent, San Diego Unified School District
At the 20:06 mark of the video, Superintendent Bagula delivered her remarks in Spanish.
San Diego Unified also on Monday put together and distributed a resource guide called: ”Holding Space for what young people hear in the news” (PDF linked here).
This is a tool for dialogue in classrooms, and educators are being encouraged to use it when speaking with students about the President’s recent remarks, but also anything else students bring into the classroom from what they are hearing on television, radio or social media.
If you have questions, let us know. Thank you. James
