I am overjoyed to congratulate Richard Barrera on his election as State Superintendent of Public Instruction.
For nearly two decades, Richard has championed students, educators, and families on the San Diego Unified School Board, leaving a lasting impact on our schools and community. Having worked alongside him for many years, I have seen firsthand his commitment to putting students first, the same principle that guides everything we do at San Diego Unified.
Our district will have a leader in Sacramento who understands the realities that schools face every day. I look forward to partnering with Richard as he works to ensure every child in California has access to a high-quality education.
