Mira Mesa High School to Celebrate Major Construction Milestone with Hoisting of Final Steel Beam on First-of-its-Kind Music Hall
WHAT: More than 300 music and orchestra students will join Mira Mesa High School staff and San Diego Unified School District leaders to celebrate a major milestone in the construction of a first-of-its-kind music hall. When complete, this will be the largest music hall in San Diego Unified history.
WHEN: Friday, May 10, 2019
11:30 a.m. -1:00 p.m.

VISUALS: District leadership and hundreds of students, a brief speaking program, a drumline performance, students and staff in a beam signing ceremony, and construction equipment lifting the final beam into place.

PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The whole site modernization project at Mira Mesa High School includes construction of a new classroom building, music building, and upgrades to existing buildings and systems.
The new classroom building provides fourteen classrooms and additional educational support spaces. The new music building provides a band rehearsal room, orchestra rehearsal room, practice spaces, and storage.
Upgrades to existing buildings and systems include the public address system, fire alarm system, path-of-travel, voice over internet telephone system, i21 classroom technology, classroom remodel and renovation. The project provides accessibility and other improvements to satisfy California Building Code requirements.
BACKGROUND:
San Diego Unified’s capital projects are funded by San Diego Unified School District’s Propositions S and Z, which are local bond measures approved by San Diego voters to repair, renovate and revitalize neighborhood schools.
PARKING:
For parking, you can park in the area with the red star. That is where the dumpsters sit. You can also park in the fire lanes, outlined by the red line, during this event. The area where the new music building is being constructed is highlighted by the green star.
