SAN DIEGO UNIFIED'S COMMITMENT TO ARTISTIC EXCELLENCE ON FULL DISPLAY WITH 500+ WORKS FROM DISTRICT'S YOUNGEST VISIONARIES
Decade-Long Tradition of Student Art Exhibition Returns During Arts Education Month


WHAT: In celebration of March's Arts Education Month, works of art from students of all ages spanning UTK through high school will be on display starting Wednesday, March 12 in in the hallways at the San Diego Unified School District headquarters  at the annual District Art Show from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Student artists will be on hand to explain the inspiration behind their work. The exhibit will remain prominently featured throughout the Ed Center until April 7, 2025.

 

WHY: This annual celebration showcases over 500 diverse artworks—including paintings, drawings, and photographs—that highlight the creative talents and critical thinking skills of students from across San Diego Unified. As a cornerstone of Arts Education Month, the District Art Show not only displays students' unique voices and visions carefully selected by art educators, but also reinforces the district's long-standing commitment to comprehensive arts programming. By providing a platform for young artists to share their work with the community, this exhibition emphasizes how arts education fosters self-expression, cultural awareness, and inspires the next generation of creative thinkers.

 

Community tours are available during District Office hours for those who wish to see the artwork in person after the opening event. Please contact: cphillips4@sandi.net to arrange a visit and explore the incredible student artwork on display.
