NEW MADISON HIGH SCHOOL AUTO FACILITY CELEBRATION
State, local voters and community come together; construction under way
What: Event with state and local education officials, and community
partners and Madison High School students to check out construction process
on the new automotive technology facility.
When: 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009. Note change from Dec. 2.
Where: Madison High School, 4833 Doliva Drive (92117)
Speakers: Jack O¹Connell, California¹s Schools Superintendent; John Lee
Evans, San Diego Board of Education Member; Richard Nash, Principal, Madison
High School, members of the San Diego automotive community.
Background: Currently under construction at Madison High School is a new
automotive technology facility, which will replace a half-century old auto
shop. Despite tough budget times, construction is fully funded through two
voter-approved bond issues from 2008: California¹s Prop. 1D and San Diego¹s
Prop. S. In addition, equipment, cars and time are being donated by some of
San Diego¹s largest car dealers and repair facilities. Supt. O¹Connell, Dr.
Evans and other district staff and the Madison students will be on hand to
thank the voters and volunteers for this project.
