LINCOLN HIGH FIRE SCIENCES TECH PROGRAM DEDICATES NEWLY ACQUIRED FIRE TRUCK

 

WHAT: Dedication ceremony and demonstration of a fire truck for Lincoln High School's Fire Science Technology Program

 

WHEN: 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016

 

WHERE: Lincoln High School, 4777 Imperial Ave, San Diego, CA 92113

 

DETAILS: A used, but fully functioning fire truck is the latest teaching and learning tool for the Fire Sciences Technology Program at Lincoln High School. The 1987-vintage pumper truck is fully outfitted, with a 1,500 gallons-per-minute pump, a 500-gallon tank, lights and siren. Lincoln's Fire Sciences Technology Program is one of the very few programs of its type in the nation. It's part of San Diego Unified's College, Career and Technical Education Program.

 

Speakers at the short dedication ceremony will include representatives of the City of San Diego Fire-Rescue Department: Capt. Robert Logan, and Station 12 Fire Captain Tony David. Dave Dewey of the San Diego Miramar College Fire Science Program will also speak. Both the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department and Miramar College/San Diego Community College District are partners in this Lincoln High program. Lincoln High Principal John Ross and students will also be speaking. All will be available for one-on-one interviews following the ceremony. Spanish speakers will be available.

 

Following the ceremony, students will be demonstrating the operation of the fire truck.

MEDIA PARKING: Media parking will be available through an alley on the perimeter of the northwest corner of the campus via Imperial Ave., just past S. 47^th St. Look for media parking signs.
