Northrop Grumman Engineers Visit Local Middle School to Inspire Pre-Teens to Pursue STEM Careers
San Diego Unified students will receive an inside look at NASA’s newest revolutionary space observatory; have opportunity to discuss the fields of science, technology, engineering and math
WHAT: In recognition of National Engineers Week (Feb. 20-25), and as an example of public and private sectors collaborating to provide and promote awareness and education, Northrop Grumman engineers will visit San Diego Unified School District’s Challenger Middle School in Mira Mesa with the goal of inspiring students to pursue careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Engineers will show the film, “Into the Unknown,” a behind-the-scenes look at the individuals building NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). The telescope is the successor to the Hubble, and is a revolutionary space observatory that will expand our understanding of the universe. After the film, Northrop Grumman engineers will answer students’ questions about the film and what it takes to work in a STEM career.
