Thousands of San Diego Unified Students become Part of History by Participating in Sri-Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run
The Peace Run, founded in 1987, symbolizes humanity's universal aspiration for a more peaceful world.
Now in its third decade, the Peace Run is the largest and longest grassroots effort for peace.

WHAT: Students from 12 San Diego Unified Schools in grades K-12 will participate in an International Peace Run starting Monday, March 20. The Peace Run will conclude at Hoover High School on Wednesday, March 23 with a grand finale reception. Superintendent Cindy Marten will be in attendance along with students from the various participating schools. The Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run is a relay in which an international team of runners takes turns carrying an Olympic-style flaming torch to promote peace and harmony throughout the world.

DETAILS: San Diego Unified's Peace Run will kick-off at Freese Elementary School on Monday, March 20, at 8:00 a.m. and will end with a Grand Finale at Hoover High School on Thursday, March 23, at 2:00 p.m.

An estimated 30,000 children, in over 1,000 cities and towns, are expected to participate when the Peace Run visits schools and youth organizations along its North American route.
