Tuesday 4/17 – 5:00 p.m. SDUSD + Community College Joint Meeting
Expanded opportunities for high school students to enroll in community college courses and making college free through the San Diego Promise will be among the topics discussed when the governing boards of the San Diego Community College District and the San Diego Unified School District hold a joint board meeting on April 17. The meeting, which is open to the general public, is the seventh since the two boards first held a joint session in 2011. Past meetings have focused on promoting student success from pre-kindergarten through college. The continued collaboration of these two educational organizations has resulted in more community college classes offered in the high schools, improved student performance, and a fourfold jump in the number of high school students taking college courses on a tuition-free basis through the San Diego Promise<http://www.sdccd.edu/about/departments-and-offices/student-services-department/promise/index.aspx>.

Wednesday 4/18 – 4:00 p.m. – PARTNERSHIP CEREMONY - Pacific Beach Middle School + YMCA Community Partnership Ribbon Tying
San Diego Unified, Pacific Beach Middle School, and Beach and Bay Family YMCA will come
together at Pacific Beach Middle School to celebrate a growing partnership. Marking the
completion of the first phase of coordinated facilities upgrades, a ribbon will be tied, not cut, to
symbolize a community coming together for the benefit of Pacific Beach families. SDUSD Superintendent Cindy Marten along with YMCA San Diego County CEO Baron Herdelin-Doherty will be in attendance to facilitate the ribbon tying.

Friday 4/20 – 11:30 a.m. – Student Athletes Get a Taste of Big League Baseball - Hoover HS v. Kearny HS at Petco Park
Two San Diego Unified School District baseball teams will get a once-in-a-lifetime taste of the "Big Show" when they take the field at Petco Park this week! Thanks to the San Diego Padres and CIF San Diego our student athletes will have the opportunity to experience playing in a Major League Baseball facility. Tickets will be available and sold to the public through Kearny and Hoover High School baseball team boosters. Game begins at 1:00 p.m.

Friday 4/20 – 8:30 a.m. – Dingeman Elementary Earth Day Celebrations
Dingeman Elementary will honor Earth Day with a special morning assembly followed by individual classroom "green" themed assignments. Some are planting, some are beautifying the school and one class will be working on Dingeman's butterfly garden.
