Hancock Elementary School Military Families Celebrate Thanksgiving with 'True Blue Buddies' School Police Mentors, YMCA
WHAT: Students from Hancock Elementary School will take part in a special Thanksgiving meal hosted by the YMCA and their "True Blue Buddies" School Police Officer mentors.
WHEN: Thursday, Nov. 21, 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
WHERE: Hancock Elementary School Auditorium, 3303 Taussig St., San Diego, CA 92124
DETAILS: San Diego Unified School Police and the YMCA are teaming up with Hancock Elementary School to help serve those who serve us! Nearly all Hancock Elementary students come from military families - a majority have at least one parent deployed. The YMCA is celebrating our families with a complete holiday celebration, including games, crafts and more, As a special Thanksgiving gift, Trader Joes is giving hundreds of families bags of food for Thanksgiving. The YMCA leads the school's physical education program and enjoys giving back to the families who sacrifice so much for our freedom. San Diego Unified School Police officers have also partnered with Hancock this year as part of their "True Blue Buddies" program, where they mentor student "buddies" and set up fun events for them throughout the year, including a back to school shopping spree and bicycle giveaway.
