What: Kickoff barbecue for Summer Fun Cafe

Details: For the sixth year, San Diego Unified School District is partnering with the City of San Diego Park and Recreation Department to bring the US Department of Agriculture's "Seamless Summer Feeding Option" to local children. Nearly 40 sites around the city -- including MCAS Miramar -- will be serving free lunch to kids Monday-Friday. For the complete schedule and locations, go to www.sandi.net/food and click on "Summer Fun Café." Lunch is free for anyone 18 and under -- and at this event only, for adults, too. Matt Wilhelm of the San Diego Chargers will emcee the event. Kids 18 and under need only show up for lunch at the various locations; no paperwork or proof of income is necessary. The programs is funded through a grant from the US Department of Agriculture and does not impact any other school programs. It also provides summer employment for San Diegans and contributes to the economy through purchases of food.
Speakers/Visuals: San Diego Charger Matt Wilhelm will be the master of ceremonies. Families will be enjoying the free lunch with lots of activities for kids.
