with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and
CalGrant programs, as well as other tips on paying for their child's

5 -- Millennial Tech Middle STEM Magnet's Open House Enrollment Event,
Millennial Tech Middle School, 1110 Carolina Lane (92102). Parents and
students in grades 5,6,7 may attend to learn more about MTM's science,

8 -- ReCentering Parenting, 6 p.m., Cherokee Point Elementary School, 3735
38th St. (92103). "ReCentering Parenting" is a six-week course that teaches
parents, students, guardians and grandparents power tools and real time
strategies for transforming students' academic and citizenship performance.
You will learn exactly what it takes to create success in students' primary,

9 -- Dingeman Elementary School Tours, 9:30 a.m. Dingman Elementary School,
11840 Scripps Creek Dr. Parents are invited to take a look at one of San
Diego Unified's finest schools and meet principal Kimie Lochtfeld, just a
few days before the School Choice deadline. Dingman teachers are GATE
certified and seminar classes are offered in grades 3-5. To reserve, call

* 10 -- Dedication Ceremony for the new two-story classroom building at

14 -- Ladies of Science in the City, 11 a.m., Serra High School, 5156 Santo
Rd. (92124). UCSD Chancellor Marye Anne Fox and 30 members of the Ladies of
Science program will visit with students and perform a pickle experiment
conducted by UCSD chemistry professor James Whitesell (the chancellor's

* 22 -- Johnson STEM Magnet¹s Annual Star Gazing Party, 6-8 p.m., Johnson
Elementary School, 1355 Kelton Road (92114). Explore our vast universe with
the Johnson STEM Magnet staff and volunteers from the San Diego Astronomy
Association for an exciting night of stargazing with experienced and
entertaining astronomy educators. Pizza will also be sold at the event.

2 -- Read Across America Day, celebrating the birthday of Dr. Seuss, San
Diego's own Ted Geisel. Schools across the district and across the country
will participate in a program to encourage reading. Contact individual

5 -- San Diego City-County Partnership Honor Choir, 7 p.m., Brown Chapel,
Pt. Loma Nazarene College, 3900 Lomaland Drive (92106). Concert of 120
elementary, 60 middle school and 80 high school students from throughout the
San Diego Unified School District. Elementary school dancers and musicians
from a variety of grades will be accompanying the chorus. Tickets: $2.

11-12 -- Association of African American Educators Conference, Mission
Valley Marriott, 8757 Rio San Diego Drive (92108). The Conference theme is
³Capturing the Brilliance: Ensuring Academic Success for
African-American/African Children². Workshops will focus on a wide variety
of issues: from encouraging self-respect to the importance of nutrition for

19-26 -- San Diego Science Festival, on SDUSD campuses and in various
locations around San Diego. More than 75,000 students, parents, scientists,
educators, and other community members are anticipated to take part in this
year's activities, with over 30,000 expected on Expo Day, a
