means accredited members of the media are invited, but the general public
is not. These are generally items during the school day.

JUNE
* 10 -- Commencement ceremonies: 1 p.m., iHigh, Mt. Everest Academy, Serra
High; 5 p.m., Hoover High; 6 p.m. Muir School. For locations and full

public but entry tickets may be required.
* 11 -- Commencement ceremonies: 10 a.m., San Diego MET; 1 p.m., Twain
School; 1:30 p.m., Lincoln, Madison, Morse high schools; 2 p.m., Crawford,
Garfield, La Jolla, San Diego SCPA, University City high schools; 3 p.m.,
Pt. Loma High, San Diego Early/Middle College; 5 p.m., Clairemont, Kearny,
Mira Mesa, Mission Bay high schools; 5:30 p.m., Patrick Henry, San Diego,
Scripps Ranch high schools. For locations and full details go to

Kowba is scheduled to preside at the ceremonies for Garfield and Mission
Bay high schools.
11 -- Last day of class for schools on traditional calendar.
13 -- Retirement Celebration, 4 p.m., Courtyard, Eugene Brucker Education
Center, 4100 Normal St. Annual celebration of retiring teachers and staff
this year has a special twist -- this will be the public retirement
celebration for Superintendent Bill Kowba. Contact: Linda Zintz,
Communications Director, 619-725-5578. Open to the public.
21-26 -- JROTC Leadership Camp, Forest Lawn Scout Reservation, Cedar
Glenn, CA. The top one-fourth of cadets from around Southern California
meeting up for a week of training in leadership and adaptability. The camp
also offers cadets high adventure training in the areas of land
navigation, rappelling, archery, horsemanship, water safety, and
confidence building courses. Contact: David Guzman, 858-496-8203. Not open
to the public.
* 26 Annual Celebration of Art, 5-7 p.m., Zamorano Fine Arts Academy,
2655 Casey Street (92139). Student artwork will be on display. Contact:
Principal Carol King, 619- 267-8007 or cking@sandi.net . Open to the
public.
JULY
4 -- Independence Day, all schools and offices closed.
19 -- Last day of school for year-round schools.
AUGUST
* 3 -- Back-2-School Resource and Enrollment Fair 2013 for Military
Families, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Farb Middle School, 4880 La Cuenta Drive
(92124). The fair provides military families new to the district with the
opportunity to enroll their children in their neighborhood school and
learn about community, military and district resources. Complimentary
lunch and childcare are available. Contact: EnrollmentFair@sandi.net. Open
to the public.
26 -- Most school offices reopen for enrolling new students.
SEPTEMBER
2 -- Labor Day, all schools and offices closed.
3 -- First day of 2013-14 school year.
