JULY
*17 -- State Preschool Registration, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Ballard Center auditorium, 2375 Congress St. (92110). Registration for all state preschool eligible families. Contact: Early Childhood Education at (858) 496-8126. Information at www.sandi.net/ece.
17 -- Principal Selection Community Meeting, 4:30 p.m. Field Elementary School, 4735 Bannock Ave. (92117). Meeting to discuss and provide input on the principal selection process. Open to the public.
21 -- Last day of school, year-round calendar.

AUGUST
*1-- Summer Commencement Ceremony, 2:30 p.m. Lincoln High School theater, 4777 Imperial Ave. (92113). This special ceremony is for graduating seniors who were unable to participate in the June 2014 event. Contact: Jennifer Rodriguez, Communications Supervisor, at 619-725-5578.
*9 -- Military Appreciation Event 2014, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Serra High School, 5156 Santo Road, San Diego 92124. All military families in the San Diego Unified School District are invited to attend a resource fair and enrollment fair. Activities, games, prizes. SEPTEMBER
*2 -- First day of school for all students.
