San Diego Unified Successes to Be Highlighted at Education Equity Conference
Superintendent Cindy Marten to be featured speaker at Education Equity Forum for educators at the forefront of equitable educational change
SAN DIEGO (September 14, 2017) - San Diego Unified School District's equity initiatives will be showcased at the Ed Trust West's—Education Equity Forum 2017: Ensuring College & Career Readiness for Students of Color & Low-Income Students in San Diego.
Superintendent Cindy Marten will be a featured speaker at the forum, where she will discuss San Diego Unified's achievements- including its record 91% graduation rate for the class of 2016, the first-ever with the elevated a-g requirements.

The Ed Trust West's Education Equity Forum provides a dedicated space for educators to connect, converse, and collaborate with equity-focused leaders from across the state of California. The forum will focus on College & Career Readiness efforts and feature innovative practices from the San Diego Unified School District that advance educational equity for students of color and low-income students.

The San Diego Unified School District is committed to increasing the academic rigor for all students, and has launched specific initiatives designed to achieve equity so that all students have the same access to a high quality education.

For example, last year more than 2,800 high school students were enrolled in college courses – including 2,227 who took those courses on their high school campuses.
