We had a change of entry. We opened the gate near the field. You will see event parking signs that will lead you in.

 

Directions: when you turn onto Mohawk street, go straight and turn right at 68th street, and then right onto Saranac Street. You will see the gate open when you turn onto Saranac.

Play All Day Initiative Comes to Life with Groundbreaking for New Playfield in College East Neighborhood

 

WHAT:           Harriet Tubman Village Charter students and staff will join City of San Diego Council President Georgette Gómez and San Diego Unified Chief Facilities Planning and Construction Officer, Lee Dulgeroff, to celebrate the groundbreaking for their new 37,000 square-foot grass playfield and park. With new picnic tables and a new playground, the field in the College East neighborhood will give students, families, and neighbors a place to walk, run, and Play All Day.

 

WHEN:           Monday, August 12th, 2019

9:00 a.m. -10:00 a.m.

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The Harriet Tubman Village K-8 Charter School Joint-Use Field project involves construction of a natural grass playfield with a walking/running path, as well as security fencing. Amenities include new picnic tables and benches, a new drinking fountain, a new play structure with shade, and existing basketball courts.

BACKGROUND: 

Capital projects are funded by San Diego Unified’s Propositions S and Z, which are local bond measures approved by San Diego voters to repair, renovate and revitalize neighborhood schools.

As part of the Play All Day partnership with the City of San Diego, the joint-use field will be accessible to the community as a local park after school hours and during school breaksYou can read more about the initiative here.
