San Diego Unified, Teachers Union to Hold Joint News Conference on Tentative Agreement

WHAT: Leaders from SDEA and San Diego Unified School District Union leaders from the San Diego Education Association (SDEA), and leaders and Board of Education members from the San Diego Unified School District will host a joint news conference announcing new details regarding the ratification vote of a tentative agreement.
WHEN: Monday, June 12, 2023, 8 a.m.
WHERE: Hoover High School, 4474 El Cajon Blvd., San Diego, 92115
SPEAKERS: SDEA leaders, San Diego Unified leaders, Board of Education members
BACKGROUND: If ratified, the three-year contract would include a 10% pay increase retroactive to last year, a 5% raise for the upcoming school year, and an option to negotiate an additional raise in the third year.
Other notable agreements would provide:
- Additional Maternity/Adoption/Partner leave
- Fully paid family healthcare coverage
- Additional elementary school counselors
- Protection of nursing services
- Increases in elementary enrichment classes
- Assistance to workload of special education teachers
