Food and Nutrition Services Announces First-Ever 'Taste of San Diego Unified'
Bell Middle School students put their taste buds to the test
Thursday, October 12, 2023
WHAT: San Diego Unified's Food and Nutrition Services Department is launching 'Taste of San Diego Unified: Student Voices Shape School Menus,' a new culinary tasting event.
More than 150 students in grades 6-8 will become food critics for a day and sample breakfast, plant-based, and Asian-inspired small bites. This culinary adventure celebrates student voices by giving them an opportunity to play an active role in picking what they want to eat at their school cafes. Feedback from the students will inform the menu development process for the next school year.
Six different vendors will provide students with a variety of tasty and innovative samples, including plant-based nachos, roasted corn dip, Chow Mein noodles with Kyoto veggies, chili con queso fries, and strawberry smoothies.
WHEN: Thursday, October 19, 12:45-3 p.m.
WHERE: Bell Middle School Cafeteria/Multi-Purpose Room
620 Briarwood Rd. San Diego, CA 92139
