Student-Led Flag Raising, Conference at District Headquarters to Highlight Latin(x/e) Heritage Month Celebration

WHAT: Latin(x/e) Heritage Month Celebration Flag Raising and Student Conference

BACKGROUND: Celebrating the beauty, richness, impact and diversity of Latin(x/e) Heritage month, San Diego Unified students will share speeches, poems and inspirational messages of their individual and collective experiences.
Following the student program and flag raising, a student conference will be held on the adjacent lawn, with a subsequent afternoon panel discussion in the Ed Center Auditorium.
Participating in the conference will be student groups that seek to promote Chicano unity and empowerment, including MEChA, Cesar Chavez Service Club (commonly referred to as Chavistas), and various Latinx and heritage clubs from high schools across the district.
Several community partners, organizations, small businesses and social groups will also be on hand to offer opportunities for collaboration and support.
