Students Join Forces with Community Members to Improve North Park Community
Park
- Unique Partnership Presenting Ideas to Increase Safety in the Park
WHAT: ALBA Community Day School students in partnership with the North
Park Action Team will present their research and recommendations to revamp
the North Park Community Park. Over the past year, these high school
students have conducted several assessments to document undesirable
conditions within the ³challenged² park. The park is located next to their
alternative high school campus, which is now celebrating the end of its
first year in North Park.
Working with the North Park Action Team a grassroots group of residents
focused on quality of life issues the students have developed several
ideas to reduce graffiti and unsafe spaces, as well as stop illegal use of
drugs and alcohol in the Community Park.
Students and community members will ask the District 3 City Council office
and the North Park Recreation Council to help implement their suggestions.
Student statements and visuals will be offered in the spirit of
improving the City-School District Joint Use environment of the park and
adjacent school.
