NEWS RELEASE -- Rodgers and Hammerstein¹s Oklahoma! Now at SCPA

NEWS RELEASE from the San Diego Unified School District, March 12, 2013

SAN DIEGO -- Come see this rugged tale of the Oklahoma prairie, along with
a diverse cast of SCPA voices, and the pioneering spirit of 64 young
artists who will delight you with the timeless music of Rodgers and
Hammerstein¹s Oklahoma!

SCPA¹s high energy production of Oklahoma! will be performed in the SCPA
Grand Theatre on Thursday, March 12th and 21st at 2:30 pm; Friday, March
15th and 22nd at 7 pm, Saturday, March 16th at 2 pm, and Saturday, March
16th and 23rd at 7 pm. The San Diego School of Creative and Performing

At the Saturday, March 16th performance, the National Association of Music
Merchants (NAMM) will present its gold record to Premium Blend, finalists
in the 2012-2013 School Jam USA. SCPA¹s Premium Blend musicians are Isaac
Boyle, Jesus Cervantes, Alejandro Garcia, Hannah Floren, Jullanar Gamboa,
Christopher Walker and alumni Julian Davis.

Three SCPA musicians received distinguished awards from the NAMM judges.
They are 10th grader Alejandro Garcia, best drummer, 10th grader Jesus
Cervantes, and best instrumentalist, and 12th grader Isaac Boyle, best
keyboard. NAMM School Jams USA received more than 100 applicants
throughout the United States and selected 10 finalists. SCPA musicians
have made their mark the past two years at School Jams!

SCPA is a college-preparatory, arts-focused, magnet public school for
students in grades 6 through 12 who have a strong interest, passion, and
