News Release from the San Diego Unified School District, May 30, 2016
Online survey on the future of San Diego schools ends Tuesday night, May 31
San Diego Unified School District is asking for public input into its plans for the coming year through an online survey that ends at midnight on Tuesday night, May 31. The survey gives the public a chance to weigh in on the district's annual Local Control and Accountability Plan, or LCAP, which lays out major goals, actions and metrics for the school system for the coming year.
The draft 2016-17 LCAP proposal is the culmination of a process that has included hundreds of people in meetings across the district, including parents, staff, students and other stakeholders. More than 800 comments have already been received online and at cluster meetings, advisory committees, and the Associated Student Body presidents' meeting.
San Diego Unified has launched a multi-year strategy to deliver quality schools in every neighborhood. Each year, the district produces a detailed LCAP plan on how it plans to improve student academic achievement, school climate, parent engagement and other areas. The LCAP plan also addresses the needs of specific student groups, such as English-language learners, foster youth, and low-income students.
The San Diego Unified 2016-17 draft LCAP plan is available online in English, Spanish, Somali and Vietnamese. The link is:

The public is invited to comment by sending an email to lcap@sandi.net or by completing an online survey in English, Spanish, Somali or Vietnamese. The survey is available here:

While the survey closes Tuesday night, there are other ways for the public to stay engaged in the school planning process.
1) Everyone is welcome to attend the special Board of Education meeting at 9 a.m. on June 14 when the proposed LCAP will be discussed in detail.
2) There will be an additional period of public comment open from June 14 through 28 when the Board is expected to approve the final LCAP.
Questions regarding the early draft LCAP can be emailed to lcap@sandi.net.
