* 1 -- New to UC Parent Orientation, 8:30 a.m. to noon, Auditorium,

interested parents. A question and answer session will follow each session.

* 2 -- Dental Screening, 9 a.m. to noon, Rosa Parks Elementary School, 4510
Landis St. (92105). Rady Children's Hospital staff will be on hand to
provide free dental screening for students entering school, a California

*3 -- Back to School Food Tasting Media Availability, 11 a.m., Mission Bay
High School, 2475 Grand Ave. (92109). Join student body presidents from all
over San Diego Unified School District as they taste some of the
more-than-a-dozen new menu items, expanded outdoor cart service and other

3 – Back-To-School Barbecue, noon, Dewey Elementary School, 3251 Rosecrans
St. (92110). School welcomes back its military families with tours, fun and
