Details: For the eighth year, San Diego Unified School District is
partnering with the City of San Diego Park and Recreation Department to
bring the U.S. Department of Agriculture's "Seamless Summer Feeding
Option" to local children. Nearly 40 sites around the city -- including
MCAS Miramar -- will be serving free lunch to kids Monday-Friday. For the
complete schedule and locations, go to www.sandi.net/food and click on
"Summer Fun Café." Lunch is free for anyone 18 and under -- and at this
event only, for adults, too. Kids 18 and under need only show up for lunch
at the various locations; no paperwork or proof of income is necessary.
The programs is funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of
Agriculture and does not impact any other school programs. It also
provides summer employment for San Diegans and contributes to the economy
through purchases of food.

Speakers/Visuals: At Wednesday's barbecue, Food Services Director Gary
Petill and officials from the City of San Diego Park and Recreation
Department will be available for interview. Families will be enjoying the
free lunch with lots of activities for kids.
