NEWS CONFERENCE ANNOUNCES TENTATIVE AGREEMENT BETWEEN SAN DIEGO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT, SAN DIEGO EDUCATION ASSOCIATION
WHAT: Announcement of tentative agreement between the San Diego Unified School District and San Diego Education Association
WHEN/WHERE: 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 19, Auditorium, Eugene Brucker Education Center, 4100 Normal Street (92103)
DETAILS: Board of Education President Dr. John Lee Evans and San Diego Education Association (SDEA) President Bill Freeman will announce a tentative agreement that will result in the district recalling more than 1,480 teachers, counselors, nurses and librarians who received layoff notices for next school year. The tentative agreement includes deferral of pay raises, continuance of the five furlough days, establishment of a health care trust and a one-time retirement incentive for SDEA members. The tentative agreement outlines additional conditions based on whether the November Tax Initiatives pass or fail.
