1,500-meter title six times and the U.S. indoor mile crown four times. He is perhaps best known for having run 136 sub-4 minute miles in his career, more than any other athlete in the world. Scott owns the U.S. Outdoor mile record of 3:47.69 (1982) and the US indoor record in the mile at (3:51.8-1981) and 2000 meters (4:58.6-1981). He is now a coach at Cal State San Marcos.

Sheri Ball-Garcia: Ball-Garcia started competing at age 8 for La Jolla Track Club. At 10 years of age she ran for Wilt's Wonder Women sponsored by Wilt Chamberlain. By age 11, Ball-Garcia was national champion in the mile with a time of 5:03, which is still a record in San Diego County. She continued running through high school at Torrey Pines, then on to college, where she received several scholarships through her track and field performances. Later in life, Ball-Garcia switched to road racing, where she qualified for the Olympic Trials in the marathon.
