Kevin de León to Skype with High School Students from Paris COP21
Senate Pro Tem returns digitally to his alma mater to engage students in Climate Change conversation
WHAT: Students from the Principles of Engineering class at San Diego High School of Science and Technology will participate on a Skype session with California Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de León, a San Diego High graduate. De León will Skype from the United Nations Conference on Climate Change in Paris to provide our students the opportunity to hear directly from the historic international negotiations and ask questions about these important environmental policies and climate adaptation initiatives. Prior to the interaction with San Diego High School, he will also Skype with students from Marshall High School in Los Angeles and Roosevelt High School in Fresno.
WHEN: Wed, Dec 9, at 1-1:30 p.m.
WHERE: San Diego High School, 1405 Park Blvd. (92101)
DETAILS: The Principles of Engineering (POE) course is a high school-level survey course of engineering that exposes students to some of the major concepts that they will encounter in a postsecondary engineering course of study. Students have an opportunity to investigate engineering and high tech career. In addition, POE gives students the opportunity to develop skills and understanding of course concepts through activity-, project-, and problem-based (APPB) learning. Lastly, as a green engineering academy, POE spends a significant amount of time investigating energy, energy conservation, and green engineering concepts.
