San Diego Unified Implements Minimum Day Schedules at Many School Sites October 24 Due to Anticipated High Temperatures

The San Diego Unified School District will be implementing minimum day schedules at many schools tomorrow, October 24, due to anticipated high temperatures, humidity and heat index. Schools on regular day schedules are expected to operate under our Hot Weather Plan guidelines

For a full list of the school on minimum day schedule please see the list below or click on the following link https://www.sandiegounified.org/hot-weather-school-list

We are aware that high temperatures are expected tomorrow, and we want to make sure that our students and staff are as comfortable as possible so that learning can continue.

When temperatures are expected to be 95 degrees or higher with a heat index of 103 degrees or higher, campuses with less than 80 percent of their classrooms air conditioned may be instructed to move to a minimum day schedule. The Superintendent's decision to call a half day is a collaborative effort among district staff and school communities to determine what's in the best interest of students.

All district schools have Hot Weather Plans in place and will implement those plans tomorrow. We are proud that the number of schools with air conditioning has increased over the past year as we work to install air conditioning at all our schools.

Guidelines for our Hot Weather Plan – detailed in Administrative Procedure 4032 – are posted at www.sandiegounified.org/hotweather<http://www.sandiegounified.org/hotweather>
