Thursday, 7/26 3:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. – MEDIA AVAILABILITY: San Diego Unified School District Highlighted at International Baccalaureate Global Conference San Diego

San Diego Unified Trustee Dr. Mike McQuary will deliver opening remarks at the San Diego International Baccalaureate (IB) Conference Thursday July 26. More than 2,000 educational leaders from over 500 schools and 30 different countries will convene in San Diego for the global conference, making it the largest IB delegation in the United States. Dr. McQuary will highlight a few of the districts achievements in relation to San Diego Unified's IB programs and schools. The San Diego Unified School District's International Baccalaureate Program, is committed to develop actively engaged learners, who become reflective critical thinkers through innovative academic programs, and are prepared to be successful in a global society. The IB program aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

Friday, 7/27 3:00 p.m. – San Diego Unified Summer Commencement Ceremony
San Diego Unified is proud to congratulate high school seniors who worked hard throughout the Summer to earn their high school diploma. Students from all of the district's 18 high school campuses will participate. Each student's name, as in the traditional ceremony, is read aloud as they make their way across the stage in their caps and gowns. The special summer ceremony has been a district tradition since 2005.
