WHAT: Morse High School partners with the Anti-Defamation League in observance of Week of Consciousness.  This year’s theme is “No Place for Hate” and events will be held daily from March 18 through 22, 2019 during school and lunch hour. On Friday, March 22nd, the culminating event for the week will be a “Walk for Peace” held during fifth and sixth period.  

 

Prior to the walk, there will be an opening ceremony with guest speakers from the community who will speak to the importance of promoting peace in their community.  The walk will begin on campus and will proceed down 61st Street to O’Farrell Community Charter School.  The community and families are encouraged to participate in the Walk for Peace to support students in their efforts to help spread peace in their community.

Background:   Observance of Week of Consciousness began at Morse High School as a single student’s vision to organize a week of activities to raise awareness amongst students related to social justice issues around the world and on campus. The week of observance has grown into a campus-wide event with many students and faculty participating to raise awareness for various issues.
