MEDIA ADVISORY: San Diego Unified Hosts Free Community Education Resource Fair

WHAT: Join San Diego Unified for an education celebration for the entire community, offering free education resources for students of all ages, free food and entertainment. Educators and experts from San Diego Unified will be on hand to offer assistance and advice on everything from college options and pre-k registration assistance to enrollment assistance and employment opportunities in the district.

 

Event speakers include:          Cindy Marten, Superintendent, San Diego Unified School District

Sharon Whitehurst-Payne, Board President, San Diego Unified School District

Dr. Constance Carroll, Chancellor, San Diego Community College District

 

WHEN: Thursday, May 16, 2019, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

 

WHERE: Educational Cultural Complex (ECC), 4343 Ocean Blvd, SD 92113.

 

Background:  The district holds the annual resource fair, bringing resources directly to the community.  The event is intended for all audiences including parents and families interested in learning more about what programs and resources are available to them. The district will also be joined by community partners Feeding San Diego, San Diego Continuing Education, Elementary Institute of Science, and the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc., Delta Upsilon Chapter and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Participants will be eligible to enter into an opportunity drawing with the chance to win San Diego Padres tickets, passes to the San Diego Zoo and Sea World, among other prizes.

 

The education resource fair is just one example of the district’s commitment to serve every child in every neighborhood of the district.
