PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The Whole Site Modernization project at Emerson-Bandini Elementary is a complete site rebuild that will result in a comprehensive, state-of-the-art, TK-5th grade campus on the existing Emerson campus.

The site transformation includes construction of a 22,000 square-foot two-story wing of classrooms, new kindergarten and new preschool classroom buildings with separate outdoor play areas, a new 5,203 square-foot administration hall with administrative offices and a health center, and a new outdoor amphitheater and lunch court.

The modernization also includes fully refurbishing the multi-purpose building, including the multi-purpose room, library media center, cafeteria, and kitchen.

Exterior campus improvements include reshaping the existing turf field and expanding it to over 26,400 square feet. The project includes new landscaping and parking for staff and visitors.

BACKGROUND

San Diego Unified's capital projects are funded by San Diego Unified School District's Propositions S and Z, which are local bond measures approved by San Diego voters to repair, renovate and revitalize neighborhood schools. In addition to renovation and replacement, bond projects include classroom technology, facilities to support College, Career and Technical Education, classroom air conditioning, safety and security upgrades, and other facilities improvements at traditional and public charter schools throughout San Diego Unified.
