BACKGROUND: San Diego Unified welcomes students, teachers and staff to the new school year with a focus on districtwide decision-making that prioritizes student outcomes, creates conditions for students to form a sense of belonging in their schools, and develops spaces for all students to thrive. The district remains committed to the safety and well-being of all students through social-emotional support and resources.

A rigorous education is offered to all students – from four-year-olds enrolled in free Universal Transitional Kindergarten through high school. Innovative career- and college preparation, including free college courses at every high school, and a new guaranteed enrollment agreement that gives eligible students at every high school an opportunity to attend Cal State San Marcos after graduation, ensures our students are ready for their futures.

Students also benefit from robust extended learning opportunities, which for the first time include before- and after-school PrimeTime programs at every elementary and middle school.
