STUDENTS SAMPLE NEW EXPANDED HIGH SCHOOL MENU
It's Not Your Father's Cafeteria Food... or Even Your Own
What: San Diego Unified's high school students sample the new, expanded lunch selections
When: 11 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2009
Where: Mission Bay High School, 2475 Grand Ave. (92109)
Details: Students from Mission Bay High and other campuses around the San Diego Unified School District will be sampling the new, expanded menu and service choices that will be offered at lunch this year on all high school campuses. The expansion, under the SanDi Choice Cafe brand, brings a food court experience to both middle and high schools, with more cart locations offering themed menu items ranging from Riga Tony's Italian specialties to Wok 'N' Bowl Asian cuisine to Surf Side Classics traditional American fare.
The expanded choices are designed to encourage more students to have lunch. Additional service points will also reduce lines and cut service time, allowing more students to have a nutritious lunch during their brief lunch periods. Studies have shown that a good lunch leads to better learning.
Student body presidents from all schools are scheduled to attend, along with Mission Bay High students. All will be available for interview and can be photographed. Officials from San Diego Unified's Food Services Department will also be on hand for interviews.
Menu items will be available for taste-testing by the media.
Parking is available in the lot on Lee Street on the west side of campus.
