MEDIA ADVISORY from the San Diego Unified School District, November 6, 2009

Education Leaders Challenge SDSU On Denying Access to College

What: Board of Education holds special public hearing about San Diego State's plan to close the gate to higher education to local students.
When: 4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 9.
Where: San Diego Unified Education Center, Auditorium, 4100 Normal St. (92103)

Background:
The San Diego Unified Board of Education invites students, parents, families, teachers, staff and the community to voice their opinions about SDSU's plan to cut enrollment and restrict access to higher education for qualified students - including potentially thousands of San Diego Unified graduates for the 2009-2010 school year.

This hearing was requested by the public and district officials last month to obtain more public input about San Diego State's proposed restrictive admission policies.
