Background: A program dating back to the early 1990s, Principal for a Day brings leaders from all over San Diego onto the campuses of the San Diego Unified School District to see first-hand what goes on in our schools. Escorted by the school's principal, visiting principals interact with students and teachers and learn what life is like on the campus.

After a morning at school, principals and their Principals for a Day will join others from around the district at a luncheon, hosted by Interim Superintendent Bill Kowba. Also on hand will be the Principal for a Day honorary co-chairs: Mark Albers, director, Merrill Lynch; and Joan Embery, founder, The Embery Institute for Wildlife Conservation.

A discussion about the morning's activities and how best to prepare San Diego's students for the future will be moderated by news anchors Barbara-Lee Edwards of KFMB-TV and Paul Bloom of KUSI-TV.
