MEDIA ADVISORY from the San Diego Unified School District, August 6, 2010

SD UNIFIED SUPERINTENDENT ADDRESSES STUDENT FEE ISSUE

WHAT: News conference with Bill Kowba, Superintendent, San Diego Unified
School District, discussing school fee issues.

WHEN: 2 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 6, 2010

WHERE: Lincoln High School, 4777 Imperial Ave. (92113)

DETAILS: Supt. Kowba will discuss recent news reports and a letter from the
local American Civil Liberties Union chapter regarding student fees, supply
lists and other items that students have been asked to purchase. San Diego
Unified has been working with its principals, teachers and staff for several
months to ensure they understand that fees cannot be charged. In addition,
Supt. Kowba will discuss how parents can have questions answered and express
any concerns.
