NEWS RELEASE from the San Diego Unified School District, Dec.17, 2010

SAN DIEGO UNIFIED SCHOOLS, OFFICES CLOSED DEC. 20 TO JAN. 2

SAN DIEGO -- All schools and offices in the San Diego Unified School
District will be closed for the next two weeks, with offices and traditional
schedule schools reopening on Monday, Jan. 3, 2010. Schools on the
year-round schedule will be reopening on Tuesday, January 18.

Schools are closed for the traditional Winter Break, while district offices
are closed for a combination of furlough days and legal holidays. Some staff
members will be working during the Winter Break, however facilities will not
be open to the public. The staff furlough for many employees has been in
effect since 2002 and is in addition to furloughs initiated this budget
year.

San Diego Unified's School Police Department will be on duty; any emergency
at a school or district facility can be reported to (619) 291-7678 or to San
Diego Police by calling 911.
