Knox Middle School 38th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. March: The Dream Lives On
WHAT: Students from across San Diego Unified School District will once again gather together at Knox Middle School to pay tribute to the legacy and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The school’s 38th annual MLK March will begin with a program that includes a speech performance by Knox students of the civil rights leader’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech. The program will be followed by a symbolic march around the neighborhood as participants sing “We Shall Overcome.” Walkers include students, staff, parents, elected officials, law enforcement officers and community members.

VISUALS: Hundreds of students and adults gathered in a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Student musical, dance and dramatic performances. “I Have a Dream” student speech performance. Hundreds walking together through the neighborhood adjacent to the school.
DETAILS: Participating schools include Dingeman, Baker, Porter, Whitman and Chavez elementary schools along with Morse and Lincoln High Schools. The parade Grand Marshal is San Diego Police Department Officer Yovanna Gonzales. Gonzales has led the school’s anti-bullying campaign.
