24 -- Star Party, 5-9 p.m., Clairemont High School, 4150 Ute Dr. (92117). This free event for all ages will feature telescope star gazing with the San Diego Astronomy Association and the Clairemont High School Observatory; hands on activities sponsored by Mesa College and the Reuben H. 25 -- UC Spirit Run, 7:30 – 10:30 a.m., University City High School, 6949 Genesee Ave. (92122). 5K and 1 Mile Kids Run in support of the five public schools in University City. Entry fees for runners and walkers. Check-in opens at 7:30 a.m. Kids Run starts at 9 a.m. 5K starts at 9:15 a.m. UCHS will be selling pancake breakfasts, breakfast burritos and beverages. 25 -- 31st Annual Children’s Book Party, 8:30-10:30 a.m., Balboa Park Organ Pavilion. Parents and students grade K-12 are invited to the 31st Annual Children’s Book Party. This free, public event features entertainment, refreshments and each student will receive two free brand new books. Contact: Roosevelt Brown at 619-266-4118. Open to the public.


25 -- 5th Annual “Jazz on the Green,” 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Mission Bay High School, 2475 Grand Avenue (92109). New Orleans inspired event that will feature the high school’s outstanding jazz ensembles and alumni including the award-winning Mission Bay Preservationists. Special appearance by the Euphoria Brass Band. Tickets are $10 adults and $5 students/children. There will be food, dancing, activities for children and music for all ages. 27 – The Power of a Restorative School District, 5:30-7:30 p.m., Jacob’s Center for Neighborhood Innovation, 404 Euclid Avenue (92114). The free community workshop hosted by the District E Trustee Cabinet will focus on following topics: What does it mean to be a restorative district? What is San Diego Unified doing and where are we going? What are the outcomes for students, schools and community? Contact: JoAnn Fields at or 619-363-4783. Open to the public.


29 -- Athlete Ally Pledge at Petco Park, 12:25-12:45 p.m. Petco Park, 100 Park Blvd. (92101). Superintendent Cindy Marten, Padres CEO Mike Dee, Athlete Ally Founder Hudson Taylor, students and players will be on the field at Petco Park before the game to take a pledge against bullying. The goal is to educate fans about Athlete Ally and encourage everyone to take the pledge. There will be a 30-second video clip played with a relevant message from Supt. *29 – Joint-Use Field Public Workshop, 6-8 p.m., Gage Elementary, 6811 Bisby Lake (92119). Community meeting to gather input on the design and construction of a multipurpose field with a walking track at Gage Elementary School, a joint project between San Diego Unified and the City of San Diego. 2 -- 21st Annual Taste of the Triangle 2015, 7-10:30 p.m. UCSD Faculty Club 9500 Gilman Drive (92093). "Reach for the Stars"- will be an evening of fun, food and fundraising for University City public schools. Enjoy food from 20 San Diego restaurants, over 100 silent auction baskets, live entertainment throughout the evening, and dancing underneath the stars. Taste of the Triangle is the major fundraiser for University City public schools. Tickets go on sale April 1, 2015. Contact: EDUCATE President Anne St. Louis at Open to the public.


*3 -- Free Heart Screening for Teens 12-19 years, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Madison High School, 4833 Doliva Dr. (92117). Sponsored by the Eric Paredes Save a Life Foundation and Scripps Health, parents have the opportunity to have their teens screened for Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) at no cost. 5 -- Day of the Teacher Celebration, 4:15-7 p.m., Madison High School, 4833 Doliva Dr. (92117). San Diego Unified School District honors its 2015 district and school site Teachers of the Year in a festive off-site board meeting with music and refreshments provided by students. *6 -- Special Board of Education Meeting, 6-9 p.m., 4100 Normal Street (92103). The San Diego Unified Board will be holding a special meeting on Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF). Discussions topics include:  What is LCFF? What does proportionality mean? How does the district allocate LCFF dollars? How does the district determine priorities? 14 -- 2015 Elementary Instrumental Honor Concert, 7-8:30 p.m., Point Loma Nazarene University, 3900 Lomaland Drive (92106). Elementary students from throughout the district will perform. 19 -- Classified Employee of the Year Celebration, 4:15-7 p.m., Ibarra Elementary School, 4877 Orange Ave. (92115). San Diego Unified School District honors its classified employees, naming one the 2015 Classified Employee of the Year. *28 -- Day of the Military Child, 7:40 a.m. to 12:40 p.m., Crown Point Junior Music Academy, 4033 Ingraham Street (92109). Activities will include a morning assembly warm-up with members of the military, soldiers reading in the classroom, pancake breakfast for military families and all school assembly with special performances and guest speaker.
