SHAKE OUT SAN DIEGO: STUDENTS DEMONSTRATE WHAT TO DO DURING WORLDWIDE EARTHQUAKE DRILL

 

WHAT: People living in earthquake prone areas like the San Diego region need to be prepared and know what to do during an earthquake. If your family is not at home when an earthquake hits, do you know what to do? As part of the Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill, fourth and fifth grade students will demonstrate the “Drop, Cover, Hold On” technique, the safest response to an earthquake.

 

All San Diego Unified schools and worksites will join more than 10 million Californians in participating in the annual Great California Shakeout Drill. Worldwide, more than 41.5 million people will participate. Information about the Great ShakeOut is available at www.shakeout.org.

 

A representative from the San Diego County Office of Emergency Services will be available for interviews about how to prepare for and stay safe during an earthquake as well as provide information about the County’s Disaster Preparedness Curriculum, “Be Aware, Be Prepared,” for elementary school students.
